From check-in to payout

Bring a charged phone and a Lightning wallet with enough bitcoin. At check-in, we link your entry to your player profile.

  1. Your Lightning address is scanned

At check-in, the Lightning address of your mobile wallet is scanned. We link and check the receiving address for any payout.

  2. Choose your nickname

Your nickname is your player name. We link it to your entry, result and rank so that your achievements belong to your player profile.

  3. Connect Telegram

You can connect Telegram to your player profile for game messages, your result and information about your payout.

  4. Pay €15 in bitcoin

Before paying, you see the exact entry fee in sats: 10% goes to LightningWars and 90% forms the prize wallet. You also see how the money in the prize wallet is split between places 1, 2 and 3. You then pay for one game via Lightning.

  5. Enter the playing field

You receive a set of equipment and a briefing on the game, the playing field and safety. Then you play against everyone: move, aim, find cover and try to survive.

  6. Your result, prize and rank

The game supervisor checks the result. The players in places 1, 2 and 3 then receive their share of the prize wallet. Each payout is sent via Lightning to the player’s Lightning address, checked at check-in. Your confirmed result is recorded in your player profile and forms the basis for your rank. How cool is that!

Allow around 20 minutes for the game and around 30 minutes including the briefing and check-in. If you are eliminated earlier, you play for less time.

Where your entry fee goes

All players’ entry fees are collected in the in-game wallet for that game. LightningWars receives 10% of the total entry fees. The remaining 90% is the prize wallet: the shared prize money for places 1, 2 and 3.

You pay and receive bitcoin in sats. The euro amounts above show the proportions. Before paying, you see the exact amount in sats and the share of the prize wallet that goes to places 1, 2 and 3.

A hit does not take bitcoin from your personal wallet. Your place in the confirmed final results determines whether you receive a prize.

A prize is not guaranteed. Even a podium prize may be worth less than your entry fee.

Every player for themselves. Four hits and you’re out.

Four players

You play individually, without fixed teams. There are four complete sets of equipment for four players at a time.

Four confirmed hits

After four confirmed hits on your vest’s sensors, you are out. Stop playing and leave the field as explained by the game supervisor.

Last player standing wins

The last player standing finishes first. Once the result has been checked, the prizes for the top three are paid out.

From Rookie to Legend

You start as a Rookie and play to earn a higher rank. Only confirmed results count, so your status is based on what you achieve in the game.

Pick up where you left off

When you return, you keep the rank and game history you have built up. At check-in, ask for your existing player profile to be found and checked.

Your place is your result in a single game. Your rank is the status you build across several games with confirmed results.

With friends, your player group or an organisation

You arrange the venue. LightningWars brings four complete sets of equipment and provides one game supervisor. We agree on the venue, date and schedule together in advance.

Entry costs €15 in bitcoin per player per game. There is no separate fee for running the activity; the 10% for LightningWars comes from the entry fees.

New to Lightning? Here’s how to get started.

A Lightning wallet

A Lightning wallet on your phone lets you pay and receive bitcoin. For LightningWars, you need a suitable wallet and a receiving address.

Your Lightning address

This is the receiving address for any prize you win. It often looks like an email address. At check-in, it is linked to your player profile.

Sats

A sat is a small unit of bitcoin. One bitcoin consists of 100 million sats. Before paying, you see how many sats your entry costs.

Don’t have a suitable wallet yet, or unsure about your receiving address? Ask for help with preparation before your game day. You do not need to pay or connect a wallet to ask for information or express interest.

LightningWars never asks for your recovery words, private keys or wallet password.
