Already at the venue?
Check in with the game supervisor. You will be told whether a place is available and when it is your turn. Bring a charged phone and a Lightning wallet with enough bitcoin.
€15 in bitcoin per player per game
Before paying, you see the exact entry amount in sats: 10% goes to LightningWars and 90% forms the prize wallet. You also see how that prize money is split between places 1, 2 and 3. You then pay via Lightning for one game.
Play, results and rank
You receive a set of equipment and a briefing on the game, the playing area and safety. You then compete against the other three players for a place in the top three. The game supervisor checks the result. The players in places 1, 2 and 3 then receive their share of the prize wallet. Each payout is sent via Lightning to the player’s Lightning address, checked at check-in. Your confirmed result is recorded in your player profile and forms the basis for your rank.

Sats
Sats are small units of bitcoin. Bitcoin prizes can be shown in sats.
Lightning
Lightning is a network for bitcoin payments. A Lightning wallet is an app that lets you send and receive bitcoin through that network.
Receiving address
Your Lightning Address is the receiving address for any bitcoin prize. At check-in, the address from your mobile wallet is scanned, linked to your player profile and checked.
You do not need a wallet to ask for information or express interest. To play, bring a charged phone and a suitable Lightning wallet with enough bitcoin. Ask for help before your game date if you are unsure about your wallet or receiving address.
Play another time
Want to play without organising a group yourself? Express interest in a future round in the Utrecht area with no obligation. One contact method is enough.
Expressing interest is free and does not reserve a place. Playing dates are by arrangement; there is no public calendar yet.
An activity for your group
For friends, player groups and organisations. Your group arranges the venue; LightningWars provides the equipment and one game supervisor.
- Four complete sets of equipment and four players at a time.
- At least three games with four players per game, within a minimum booking of two hours, excluding setup and pack-down.
- Around 20 minutes of play and 30 minutes per round, including the briefing and check-in.
- Date, time and venue suitability to be discussed together.
- Utrecht area. For journeys of more than 30 minutes by car, travel expenses are discussed in advance.
The same four people can play several games. With a larger group, players take turns between games. Extra games are agreed in advance.
Each player pays €15 in bitcoin via Lightning per game. There is no separate fee for running the activity. LightningWars receives 10% of the total entry fees; 90% forms the prize wallet for places 1, 2 and 3. Any travel costs are discussed in advance. An initial enquiry is not a booking.
