For players and groups
Safe play starts before the round
The game supervisor gives the briefing and checks the equipment. Your group provides the venue. Together, we discuss whether it is suitable for the game.
What your group arranges in advance
In a group enquiry, tell us where you would like to play and what kind of venue it is. Consider:
- The town or area, the type of venue and whether you want to play indoors or outdoors.
- Permission from the venue owner or manager.
- The ground surface, obstacles, access points and places where other people pass by.
- A playing area with clear boundaries and a space for players who are waiting or have been eliminated.
- Practical conditions that could affect movement, visibility or supervision.
Haven't chosen a venue yet?
You can start preparing a group enquiry. Say what you are looking for and in which area. Your group ultimately chooses and arranges the venue; we discuss its suitability before the activity.
What you do as a player
- Listen to the briefing and make sure you know the stop signal.
- Stay within the agreed playing area and be considerate of others.
- Do not aim at people outside the game. Do not climb or keep playing when you see a hazard.
- Stop at the stop signal, if equipment fails or when the game supervisor tells you to.
- Report physical discomfort, damaged equipment and unsafe situations immediately.
- After elimination, leave the active game using the agreed route.
Need a practical adjustment?
Have questions about moving, hearing, seeing or understanding the briefing? Discuss what you need in advance. The options depend on the venue and activity. You do not need to share a diagnosis or other medical information through a form.
Photos and video
Photos and video are not a standard part of the activity. Want to take photos or video, or appear recognisably in them? Discuss this in advance. The game supervisor runs the session and cannot film the whole activity at the same time.
Share a moment from your game
Sharing your own photo or video of the game? Tag @playlightningwars. Check first with anyone who can be recognised in it.
If the game is stopped
Follow the game supervisor’s instructions immediately. The game supervisor assesses the situation and explains what happens to the game. For paid games, the effect on your entry fee and the prize wallet is agreed in advance.
